Camp Sombrero-It’s In The Bag!

Camp Sombrero – It’s in the Bag is our council’s, (Girl Scouts of Arizona Cactus-Pine Council), 100th Anniversary Take Action Project. This state-wide effort enables girls to lead their families, schools, and communities to improve the environment and protect our natural resources. Girl Scouts, family, friends and community partners are asked to host a neighborhood bag drive to collect plastic bags and deliver

them to local Trex recycle bins at participating businesses. Donated plastic bags will be recycled into materials to build the new Leadership Center for Girls and Women at Camp Sombrero.

Safeway, Whole Foods and Albertsons stores Valley wide are ready to accept your plastic bags. While the collection bins in the store may not read “Trex” on the box, donations may be left at the drop off site at the stores listed above. A representative from Trex will be visiting Valley stores often to pick up all of your plastic bags, which will count towards our council goal of collecting 32 million bags!

Over 31 Girl Scout troops and two neighborhoods have joined hands to “take action” as members of the Camp Sombrero – It’s in the Bag team!
